I. Der Singende Kopf is an experimental opera fragment by Marc Sinan with a libretto by Maike Wetzel and resembles one third of the Endless Pleasures triology. The piece is based on Ovids epilogue on the story of Orpeus and Euridike and the Chinese Opera The Peony Pavilion.

For the performance the stage was transformed into an immersive room on the edge between reality and virtuality, resembling Orpheus way between life and death. The four by four grid of vertical light bars react in realtime to the performance of the partly improvising musicians. The reflections of the light sculpture beautifully reflect on the stage floor, which was completely covered with mirror foil.

Der Singende Kopf premièred at Radialsystem Berlin on April 6th 2019.

II. GEISTER is a transmedial concert performance addressing Orpheus’ and Euridikes’ journey to the underworld.

The piece does not only take place on stage but turns the whole venue into an acoustic space that can be explored by the audience. Single musicians sit in empty floors, freight elevators or even in the basement spread throughout the whole building. Synchronized by a click track all the musicians play in time and their audio signal is transferred to a control center in the concert hall where the signals are mixed and turned into a collage of sounds by Marc Sinan and Oğuz Büyükberber.

In order to visualize the sound traveling from the sources to the center light bars mark the way and interweave the whole space like a big net. Every sound of an instrument triggers a light impulse that travels from light bar to light bar and finally makes its way to the center. When different strands of the net meet alike the audio signal the light impulses start adding up to each other as well.
